Saturday picket!

This Saturday’s picket is at Wells Fargo. We moved the start time to 10:30 AM several weeks ago in order to beat the heat some. GA held at the picket at noon. Come on down, since the next camp is coming up in 2 weeks and we have much to discuss between now and then!

This Weekend…

OFFICIAL! This Saturday’s picket will be at Bank of America, starting at 10:30, GA held at noon, and picket will continue until 4 PM. Please bring literature for our info table. We might get some good foot traffic due to the Garden Jubilee thing going on.

Also worth noting….Several of our people will be going to Maiden NC to protest against Pastor Worley and his homophobic rantings. This is going to be a HUGE protest. Looking at somewhere around 2000 people showing up, national and international media attention. We will be talking about this on Saturday at the GA for sure.

This Saturday’s Picket

We are still waiting to hear about our options of setting up an info table this Saturday during the Garden Jubillee event on Main Street. If we have access to “the lot”, then we will set up a table there this Saturday and picket Wells Fargo. If we do not have “the lot” available, we will picket at Bank of America. We should have this all sorted out tomorrow.

Coming soon…

First, a little bit of housekeeping. Picket this Saturday at Bank of America, corner of 7th and Main, Hendersonville, NC. Picket starts at 10:30 AM, GA held right there at noon, and picket continues after the GA adjourns.

Now, on to the really good stuff! We have secured the lot for round two of Occupy the Weekend, for the weekend of June 15-17! We’ve got plenty of time to plan for this one, and we’d like to make it even better than the first one. More teach-ins, more campers, and hopefully some great live music. At GA this Saturday, we will start discussing plans, set up an organizational working group, and generally spend the next month kicking things up a few notches.

Spread the word!!!

Tomorrow!

Picket starts at Bank of America, 7th and Main, at 10:30 AM. GA convenes at noon, same location unless we move it due to weather at the last minute. The picket of BoA will continue after the GA adjourns.

Tea Party, why not join us?

The local Tea Party is reacting to our recent front page headline, methinks. Observe this quote from a recent email to the party faithful…

“Ron tells me he is planning a significant summertime TEA Party rally outside the Old Courthouse on Main Street.  Its objective is to voice our opposition to the local Occupy Wall Street radicals, and to Barack Obama’s relentless drive to “transform” our Constitutional republic into a second-rate, weakened socialist state.”

We are working out the details, and will post the date of this Tea Party fun-fest asap. We would ask that all supporters of the Occupy “radical” movement join us in a silent vigil across the street from this event when it is posted. We would like to engage them in dialogue, if possible, and find the common threads that run between our two movements. The hand will be offered for them to shake.

New News!

The GA yesterday decided to hold further General Assembly meetings of Occupy Hendersonville each Saturday at our picket. Also decided was to hold this coming Saturday’s picket at Bank of America, since they have their shareholders meeting next week (May 9, if anyone wants to go to Charlotte to protest. There’s a bus leaving from Asheville). In other words, next weekend, picket at BoA, on 7th Avenue. Start time is 10:30, GA to be held at noon right there (megaphone will be supplied, but we need to stick to stack, pretty strictly since its street side). We’ll run the picket until 4 PM, if the people are there. Its a high-visibility location for sure. Let’s get the info table out there as well. We have a lot of great information to spread around. Future picket locations will be decided at each GA on Saturday at noon.

GA tomorrow…

Tomorrow! General Assembly of Occupy Hendersonville! Meet in front of Black Bear coffee shop on Main Street! Meeting starts BY 5:15 PM! Bring your thoughts!
